Earlier I alluded to the fact that I make mistakes when posting. Plenty of them, in fact. Some of them simply require looking back at the emails, or a closer look at the cards (see Monday's post, for example). Others require a complete brain overhaul.
I received my results from the Nachos Grande Gypsy Queen break some point last week, and completely forgot about them. I entered them into my spreadsheet inventory, put them away, and that was the end of it. Which was a shame - I did quite well! So I had to go back and find the cards I could, and scan them for a post.
In fact, I had a hit! Matt Kemp mini framed jersey! Not bad, given the list of players in the relic set. I also lucked upon a nice "framed paper" numbered to 999.
And I totally missed this during the actual break, but I also lucked into a black mini for my other team, the Tigers.
I had more cards, too. Plenty of base cards, but you've seen tons of images from them already. And I had a couple more inserts, including a Home Run Heroes. But since I'm as absent-minded as they get, I didn't scan them.
A few other bits of awesomeness wrapped in bubbles arrived recently - more than I expected.
It took me a while, but I finally picked up the World of Sports set at a decent price. I still want the Nastia Liukin and Sasha Cohen autographs but I'm afraid that may have to wait awhile. (And Shawn Johnson from Allen & Ginter, but that seems to be even harder to find.)
These two gold-foiled mullet-headed beauties arrived from a Sportlots purchase at a pretty good price, much better than I would find on eBay and probably better than I could find at a card show without searching through thousands of dime box cards. This finishes my '93 Studio Heritage set, and I believe my entire Studio Heritage set run (at least the years I'm interested in).
Mini awesomeness! I think this finishes my mini insert needs. A couple great players too - Jackie Robinson and Jason Heyward, pretty cheap.
And scrub auto awesomeness to add to it! I think combined all four of these cards took my wallet for about $6.
I don't like the red tints. They remind me too much of blood. My green tint was of an A's player (green team color), and my red tint is a red-hatted Ranger. Maybe my blue tint will be a Royal or Dodger.
Now, two bits of greatness to share from other bloggers!
Napkin Doon had another awesome Big Fun Game, and I was again lucky enough to participate! I ended up with exactly what I wanted - a couple inserts for the samplers! I want the entire Gypsy Queen queens set, too, but I'll get to that some other time. And by the way, he's running another contest, which ends on Sunday. Go put your input in for a chance to win!
And last, but certainly not least, the only actual trade of this post. Sam, The Dimwit, offered "leather" /10 and sepia /99minis for trade, and I jumped at the chance. For the first time, I actually took a card out of my inventory for a trade, and I'm glad I did. I ended up with the two minis:
Guess which one is the sepia. I believe that leaves my mini needs at the red back (pending in trade), relic autograph, and plates. I'm doing pretty well on a set for which I've bought no packs. The full-size cards are also coming along pretty well. But that's not all I received. Sam cut my '11 Topps Series 1 needs down to THREE cards! I need two cards for the CMG Reprints and one for the 60 Years of Topps set. Hopefully those will be offered in a trade I'm working on right now. I scanned the nine inserts he sent, but for some reason the scan disappeared. I guess we've seen enough of those cards for now anyway? Thanks again, Sam, and hopefully your cards reach you soon!
