The 30-Day Baseball Card Challenge (Day 2)

Day 2: A card with more than one player on it.
I thought about using this card in yesterday's post. The photo is great: you can see interaction between two players and it's not cropped so tightly that you can't see what's going on behind them. Yet it's close enough that you can see Pillar's face as he dives in to home plate. Was he safe or out?

I'm In: The 30-Day Baseball Card Challenge (Day 1)

I'm a day late and a dollar short. But Tony at Off Hiatus Baseball Cards posted a challenge to post a card every day based on a specific theme. I'm totally about this; other than slipping in some new release posts in the next week or two (depending on when stuff hits shelves here in Japan) I can still post quickly and get caught up around my apartment!

The concept is simple. Here's the list:
Technically, this is April 2. So you'll get two posts today so I can be caught up!

Day 1: A card from the current year with a photo you like
I thought about putting a Japanese spin on this challenge, but I instead decided to mix things up a bit, sometimes going Japanese, sometimes US.

John Goodman is one of my favorite actors; even when he's in a "crappy" movie he generally puts out a good performance. Granted, he usually plays the out-of-shape father, but I enjoy his roles. He put out an interesting pose on this card before throwing out the first pitch at Busch Stadium.
That's a pretty short video. I'm glad to see he's doing well!

2017 Topps Opening Day for Opening Day Weekend

I'm getting things cleaned up. I finished what is probably the biggest part of getting my new stuff organized, so now it's all these odds and ends. But then, those can take the longest!

Anyway, I bought a pack of Topps Opening Day, because, why not? Here, for Opening Day, is what was inside:
Longoria looks like he might fall over here. Too much gold around his neck, you know.
A tip of the cap to you too, Jose. There aren't many people in those outfield stands. Is this in Miami?
That's a pretty nice action shot.
Giants player #1. I remember when Belt was supposed to be the Next Big Thing.
Giants player #2. Someone needs a haircut.
Giants player #3. I do hope Posey has a better season at the plate than last year. He's still one of the best in the game!
Speaking of needing a haircut... what in tarnation is this? At least I pulled one of the coveted Mascot inserts for my type collection.

And that's all! Quite underwhelming, but one pack of Opening Day tends to be that way. Okay, back to work for me...
