Calbees are Here!

Just picked up a few bags of chips with cards on the back! See the pictures below for a preview. More to come later!

  1. The cards look good. How are the chips?

  2. I hit up J-Town in SJ at least 2 to 3 times a month... hoping to come across these bags... but they never come. Seriously jealous!

  3. PATP: The arrival of professional chips that are able to play the game of baseball indicates to me that spring has finally arrived!

Hackenbush: Yup! Lots of defectors here in Japan. Interested in the card?

    Kyle: agreed!

Mark: They aren't bad, but they're nothing more than average. I won't buy them for the taste.

Fuji: I tried finding them in SF's Japanese markets but I had no luck either. Granted, I probably was looking at the wrong time (it wasn't a nearly-weekly visit). Now that I've finally seen them, I know they really do exist!

  4. WalMart sells a couple of Calbee products, I really wish they'd get in a few cases of these! They'd have to be an improvement on the "shrimp flavored chips"!

  5. Many of the card products sold here in Japan are made exclusively for Japanese consumption. I see some card products/packs labeled explicitly in English as "For sale in Japan only". Calbee's baseball card distribution license may be only for Japan as well.

  6. Thanks for the pictures! I've heard for years that Calbee cards came with the chips, but I never knew if they were in the bag with the chips, attached to the outside, or what. Now I know.

By the way, I'm also enjoying Chaos & Kanji. Thanks for sharing all of this with us!
