I'd probably make the 'grass' spots team color spaces instead if I were to redesign it.

To me, the 95 'crayola' set is way to high here. I hate the font used for the name and the torn edges are just too cheesy.

And I concur about the card backs being awesome on the 93 set. I loved those colored fence planks.Rosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06468890028691519243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-657985600764530650.post-40331032025168838612011-08-03T15:58:27.134-07:002011-08-03T15:58:27.134-07:00Thank you, paulie. I liked the 2000 issue because of the use of team colors and the 96 issue because of the large area the photo consumes. The Baseball Card Snobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11810899668654576874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-657985600764530650.post-8681086691180301962011-08-03T09:50:41.520-07:002011-08-03T09:50:41.520-07:00I agree that 1999 feels unfinished. As a collecting standpoint I'm tired of seeing 1991 (maybe because I've seen so much of it since its release) but from a design standpoint it stands out as one of the better ones. I have a weird liking to 1997, something about it is just great to me. 1995 is a good design too, and does have an artsy feel to it.moremonkeys138https://www.blogger.com/profile/05040986592810865491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-657985600764530650.post-37090596174813902772011-08-03T07:22:32.955-07:002011-08-03T07:22:32.955-07:001991 was the first year I bought a whole box so th...1991 was the first year I bought a whole box so that year one of my favorites.

Then came 1992 and the introduction of Topps Gold which led me to buy another box. I ended up getting a Topps Gold card of Astros manager Art Howe. I can't even begin to tell you how disappointed I was! I do like the design and the white card stock...makes a huge difference.

1995 was probably the last year I bought much of the flagship set. It's not my favorite design, but one of the better from the 90's.

1996 looks really nice - I wish I had bought more of it.flywheelshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17404740580161509052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-657985600764530650.post-32321730276350795462011-08-02T20:14:23.118-07:002011-08-02T20:14:23.118-07:0095 is the best! That wouldn't be a bad idea. Of course, Night Owl's done his whole card back countdown thing, but this could be cool too!

I was going to mention the use of the same photo twice on the front, but I think it works well as is too. I think the goal was a dynamic design, with action photos and the fading banner. Using a separate head shot may detract from that. Maybe a smaller action shot would work?Ryan Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12670458381967699663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-657985600764530650.post-92115122098611095972011-08-02T18:51:29.110-07:002011-08-02T18:51:29.110-07:00I do agree with some of your opinions, such as 199...I do agree with some of your opinions, such as 1999 being near the bottom. Although I would reverse positions of the 1996 and 1993 sets. I loved the 93 set, specifically for the backs which included photos for the first time in quite a while. The 1996 set could have been great had another photo been used for the smaller head shot a la 83 or 84. But with the same photo used twice it is just ugly to me.hiflewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07128126188366882765noreply@blogger.com
